Our First Garden
Yea, I know, I'm a little late but, "better late than never". I am so late in fact that I had to buy plants instead of seeds. The kids were so disappointed when we said we wouldn't be able to plant this year so we gave in and did it. The main reason we gave in is for Spencer's scouts but I think we will all learn and grow ;) from trying it out. Besides, I'm all for any thing that gives the kids one more chore to do. Between digging, planting, weeding, watering, and picking there should be at lease 10 minutes a day. We'll see how they survive (the plants and the kids). We planted 2 regular tomatoes for bottling, two orange cherry tomatoes for eating, 1 zuccini becuase I don't think it is possible to kill (hopefully), 2 yellow (they were out of red) watermelons were Spencer's choice, and 2 pumpkins were Benji's choice. We are going to be out of town for 10 days next week so hopefully we can get the sprinklers adjusted to get it good enough. The dirt here is not great and it is expensive to amend the soil too much so we are just going to cross our fingers. Wish us Luck!

"The prophet said to plant a garden so that's what we'll do!"
Now just imagine me singing that to you! It's a great mental image huh?
I think it's great that you planted a garden. And I think it's even better that you are going to keep the kids busy working hard. I think it's a lost art. I have talked about planting a garden for years. The most I have ever done is a few tomatoe plants each year. Oh well, there's always next year. And you know I want to be just like you so now that you are leading the way...I must follow:) !!!!
Hey, I was just thinking about you. I sure wish we could have seen you this trip. Anyhow, I just wanted to tell you again how happy I am that you are blogging. I feel reconnected to you; like we can talk every day (well, almost every day).
You are great! Talk to ya soon!
